A pro ballplayer's hometown is blown up by a giant Space Whale. One thousand years later, he goes on a quest to beat up his father. -- Haha, FFX?

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
cha-ching! Your knowledge has increased :3

[identity profile] cruelruin.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The teams of Psychic Teenagers are definitely from Golden Sun.

The Love Dodecahedron is probably some chick anime but I'll go ahead and guess Code Geass because it could be described that way.

I see someone introduced you to TV Tropes. Haha, welcome to Awesomeland. This Troper's been going there for quite a while now.

[identity profile] utada.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
ALSO, THE DRAGON ONE = DRAGONAGE?

[identity profile] sentienttoaster.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Eight different high school students solve local murders by watching TV all night long. = Persona 4?

A miner and a delinquent team up with an underage girl for the purpose of fighting a race war. = Gurren Lagann?

Two groups of Psychic Teenagers travel the world, one to light lighthouses of power, while the other tries to stop them. The world either withers and dies or erupts in war. The game is based around colored gems being dropped into holes. It is not a puzzle game. = OH HI GOLDEN SUN

The father of the hero of the prequal which is actually the sequal goes off on a journey to find his dad with the help of two musical dragons. Then he has to go stop a Gonk from destroying the world and sucking out everyone's soul in the universe. = Fire Emblem 7?

A young aristocrat suffers a severe emotional crisis, is betrayed by his most trusted ally, abandoned by his family and country, treated with contempt by his friends, and attempts to kill himself repeatedly. = I'm not so sure about this one but...is it Tales of the Abyss?

Pfffft, I haven't played Final Fantasy XIII but now if I ever play all I'm going to see is Kanji and Rise.

[identity profile] kaondesu.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
El oh el. Space Whale? Never thought of it that way. Oh, I haven't beaten the game yet. =P

[identity profile] dmajohnson.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Ah man, everyone already found the ones I know. Wait, is the one about a boy bleeding for candy "Deadman Wonderland".

[identity profile] dmajohnson.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I think Schoolgirl takes on a lot of extra work. Fans read lesbian subtext into Disney cartoon, creators are happy to oblige. is Kim Possible.

[identity profile] thano.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
A young aristocrat suffers a severe emotional crisis, is betrayed by his most trusted ally, abandoned by his family and country, treated with contempt by his friends, and attempts to kill himself repeatedly. <-- Tales of the Abyss, if I'm not mistaken?

For dead people, fashion is incredibly Serious Business. They overcome difficulties and learn to love. And kill people with Myspace Flare. <-- why does this sound like The World Ends With You

Two groups of Psychic Teenagers travel the world, one to light lighthouses of power, while the other tries to stop them. The world either withers and dies or erupts in war. The game is based around colored gems being dropped into holes. It is not a puzzle game. <-- GOLDEN SUN GOLDEN SUN GOLDEN SUN

A young boy bleeds profusely in a never-ending quest for candy. <-- Deadman Wonderland, ahahaha

12 people gain knowledge of the future and participate in a tournament to become God Deus; Xanatos Speed Chess ensues. The protagonist's girlfriend is an Ax Crazy Yandere Stalker with a Crush. <-- ... I waaaanna say Liar Game, even though I've never read it?

Schoolgirl takes on a lot of extra work. Fans read lesbian subtext into Disney cartoon, creators are happy to oblige. <-- oh god, dare I say Kim Possible?

A monster uses a watch to suck away a girl's soul. He may love her. Together, They Fight Demons. <-- Never read it, but it sort of sounds like Chrono Crusade?

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I think it's more of a tv trope term thing :)

... although I'm not sure what space whale means in TV trope land, I need to check that XD

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
YESYES I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE GOT THAT ONE :)

I want to play it again so badly, but my disk is scratched :'(

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes and yes!

And yeah, I would have said something different for Code Geass, but I can see where they're coming from.

I love reading the music tropes :3

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
You are right on all counts! Jeez, you guys are too good at this :P

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
You are right on everything except for Liar's Game... although looking it up on wiki I kinda want to read it now :3

[identity profile] thano.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
=o my friend said it's like... death note, but intenserer. or something

[identity profile] cruelruin.livejournal.com 2010-05-01 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Space whales are what TV Tropes uses to refer to the many species of whales-in-space that sci-fi stories have come up with for space.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpaceWhale

Hehe, it's amazing that something so weird has been done so many times. I just saw an example on Doctor Who very recently, in fact.

It's already on the page I linked. WikiMagic is scary powerful.

[identity profile] cruelruin.livejournal.com 2010-05-01 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Triple mention of space in one sentence = fail. xD
